Twenty women got together to enjoy breakfast in the beautiful Bond & Brook Restaurant in Fenwick, Bond Street.

Liz Edlich founder of Radical Skincare told everyone how she developed the highly effective range of products to tackle her sister Rachel’s rosacea and her own signs of ageing.

The brief to produce the most effective products was met by the scientists who put everything into the formulation, rather than the packaging and marketing campaign.  Liz and Rachel are the faces of Radical, they believe in endorsing the product that they created for themselves.  So you won’t see any retouched celebrity smiling out from magazine advertisements.

Liz spoke to all the guests individually, asking each what they hoped to achieve from the workshop and what they were looking for in their skincare products.  We all wanted less signs of ageing, less lines and wrinkles, more even skin tone and texture and honesty.  Honesty is an interesting word which I have heard more than once this week in regards to beauty products.  Women are looking for products that are effective, work quickly, and are produced by companies that do not make outrageous claims.  The photoshopped celebrity is not convincing us!

It was a great opportunity to listen to a woman of a similar age, Liz is 49, tell us that she experiences all the hang-ups that we have.  She mentioned waking up in the morning and wondering who on earth that woman is in the mirror, and slapping on as much eye cream throughout the day in a bid to fight back gravity.  These are things we are all experiencing now and looking for ways to hold back the ravages of time.

Getting to try all the products in a relaxed and unpressurised atmosphere really appealed to everyone.  Being able to actually apply the products, especially the Eye Revive Crème and Firming Neck Gel gave us a good idea of whether they would be suitable.  I’m sure we all had amazingly soft hands after trying all the products.

Everyone left with a goody bag containing a full sized 120ml Hydrating Cleanser and enough samples to try the Restorative Moisture Crème, Exfoliating Pads and Peptide Infused Antioxidant Serum for five days.  Also enclosed were the product guide and the Radical Living booklet ‘Going Above and Beyond’, a great introduction to the book that Liz is producing featuring people who have said yes.  Yes is a popular word within the Edlich family, in fact they don’t know how to say no!  For half of his life Liz and Rachel’s father, Dr Richard F Edlich, the World renowned Professor of Plastic Surgery, has been confined to a wheelchair.  Suffering from Multiple Sclerosis hasn’t stopped him from working and constantly saying yes, a Radical yes!

Judging by the lovely comments made on Twitter everyone had the most enjoyable morning and are now looking forward to the next Fighting Fifty event.
