Day Two of the Mind & Body Cleanse and already I notice the signs of detoxing.

I completed day one without a hitch and happily went off to bed feeling quite pleased with myself.  That was until I looked in the mirror and found the first signs of detox – a spot!  Not a discreet easy to hide little blemish, a red bump on my nose of all places.  Usually this wouldn’t bother me too much but as sods law works I had been invited to a press launch the following morning.

Trying hard not to make the spot worse – can anyone actually just leave them alone? – I coated it with Dr Nick Lowe’s Spot Gel and went to bed.  I’ve realised that you need to be organised to detox, so I have soaked a large bowl of butter beans overnight ready to use the following evening.

Tuesday morning and I wasn’t organised enough to find my body brushes so I’ve skipped the brushing again, sorry Chris another failure.  I drank a large glass of hot water with lemon and juiced half a melon with one apple, ginger and a small amount of maca powder.  Maca is good for balancing hormones and for increasing energy and that’s exactly what I need.  I also take 2 Super Multi Vits, 1 Milk Thistle, 2 Super Vitamin C and 1 Clean Green tablet.  I also have to take 1 Milk Thistle before bed.

Walking up the escalator at the station took more effort than usual but this might be due to not getting enough sleep rather than the detox.  The selection of food at the press launch looked delicious, smoked salmon on rye, caesar salad, risotto, chips, there were even chips!  I had fruit salad, it was delicious and it looked really healthy.  When you tell people you’re on a detox programme they say ‘oh poor you’ – I had a choice – I chose to do this!

When I arrived home I was starving and wanted to eat quickly so I made a salad and added some kidney beans for protein.  In the afternoon I juiced again, this time using lots of kale, cucumber, lime and ginger.  It was absolutely disgusting it tasted revolting, the lack of fruit made it bitter, this was more than a spoon full of medicine, and I gulped it down as fast as possible.  Worst of all I had to wash the bloody juicer again, it doesn’t take long but boy is it annoying.

Tip of the day:  Be prepared get beans soaked the day before you want to use them.

My soaked butter beans were boiled for about an hour and 15 minutes with a heaped tablespoon of Marigold Bullion to give them some flavour, when they were ready I blended ¾ into soup and added a half teaspoon of turmeric, ground cumin and ground coriander.  The other quarter I drizzled with olive oil added a tiny amount of sea salt and a good grinding of black pepper.  These roasted in the oven at 200 degrees for about 20 minutes until they were crisp and golden.  Butter beans roasted this way make a great alternative to crisps or peanuts.

I’ve had two texts today, one from my father and another from a friend, they’ve read the blog and noticed that Chris James recommends colonic hydrotherapy, let’s just say that my father’s message with lol did not mean lots of love!  I am not going to be doing the colonic hydrotherapy; yes I am slightly intrigued but not enough to do it at this time.  I really don’t think that it’s something to undertake when you are busy and have to carry on your normal life.  Maybe if I was at a retreat or spa where I could spend the day after lazing about I would give it a go.  I have ordered some Colosan as recommended by Chris for the Power Phase, this apparently will have a similar but milder effect on the body, and Chris also recommends a colema board.  I googled this – and no – there is no way I’m going there.  I bet you’ve just googled it – it’s still no!

So far I haven’t been really hungry, I’ve haven’t had a headache, but I honestly can’t say I feel any better and I’ve got a spot, I do hope this is worth it.
