Day Four The Wall

I don’t know if I turned the alarm off in my sleep, or I woke up and turned it off, which ever I didn’t wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed as detox promises.  Visits to the bathroom during the night gave me a disturbed sleep and I woke up feeling quite second hand.  I still had the thick head, not a headache as such but a dull ache.

Thankfully I didn’t have any meetings as I had heard this was the tough day, After hot water and lemon I needed something that wasn’t green and veggie, already I’m getting fed up with green juice, apples and pears with cinnamon and ginger doesn’t look much but tasted delicious.  I think it’s easier to stick to a routine if it’s pleasant at least some of the time.  I also juiced some carrot, apple, ginger and kale at the same time, I’m stick of cleaning the juicer so whether the enzymes are going to die off or not I put the jug in the fridge for later.

I found it quite hard to focus; this might not have been the detox of course, I often have days when I feel I’m not focussed enough.  At lunchtime I didn’t have the inclination to cook so I made a salad and wanted some colour in it, and not all green, how do you keep up eating so much green?

As I have now moved into Pre-Purification Phase I’ve increased the amount of supplements I’m taking, I’m now taking an additional 2 Super Cleanse tables, a tablespoon of flaxseed oil at breakfast, and as well as the Milk Thistle I am now taking a Pure Probiotic at night, and an additional 2 Super Cleanse.  Now the problem with this is that Super Cleanse contains psyllium husk, you need to drink at last 200ml of water for each tablet you take.  No problem in the morning but taking it before you go to bed means trips to the bathroom during the night, so I was expecting another broken night’s sleep.  I have heard that people sleep soundly when they detox, I haven’t so far.

Tip of the day: Wash all fruit and vegetables before you put them in the fridge

What I have noticed is that my skin is improving, it’s starting to look clearer, the spot has nearly gone, whether this is the detox or Dr Nick Lowe’s magic potion I’m not sure, probably a combination of the two.  My lips are also a different colour, much pinker and the other most noticeable thing is that my mouth always feels clean.  My teeth stay remarkably clean throughout the day, I guess without any sugar plaque isn’t forming.  My body also feels slightly less spongy, but I can’t say I feel any better in myself as I have developed some cold symptoms.  I have a sore throat; intermittent nose running, a cough and I feel achy.  I had no idea I was so toxic!

After drinking my juice in the afternoon, which tasted fine even if the enzymes were dead, I needed something hot for supper.  I made an aubergine and sweet potato curry, oh how I wish I could tell you this was delicious – it wasn’t.  It was ok a bit bland and tasteless.  I think my taste is starting to change, sweet fruit tastes sweeter than it did before and I am enjoying the raw food more than the cooked.

My skin has felt a little drier than usual, this might be due to the large amount of fluids passing through my body, my hands are dry and I’m using tons of hand cream.  Peeing for England probably has something to do with this; I can’t tell you how many times I have washed my hands.

It’s now over a week since I had a drink, anything sweet, or any bread, and four days without any meat or fish, and surprisingly I don’t really miss it.  If I didn’t feel so tired, had a thick head or the cold symptoms I would be enjoying this detox, but as it is I’m not, I’m really not, I hope I will see some benefits for all this effort.

I must stick to it and get over the wall!
