Safe sausages for all the family even if they have food intolerances!

With Coeliac Disease awareness week approaching, 11-17th May, and the recent changes in EU rules enforcing restaurants to inform customers of meals containing allergens, it was very timely that I was sent some gluten free sausages.

For anyone who has an allergy sufferer in the family will know how hard it is to create a family meal that everyone can enjoy.  Luckily none of my family suffers from any known allergies but they do have particular tastes, one won’t eat fish while the other is conscious of calories, so creating more than one meal is not unusual.

This lovely parcel arrived from debbie&andrew’s with two packs of their Caramelised Red Onion Pork Sausages, along with a chiller bag, recipe book and these cute red wellies ready for planting thyme seeds.  As I am sure you know not all sausages are created equal and what sets debbie&andrew’s apart is the way that every element of the sausage making process is approached, making their sausages exceptionally good.

Everything is prepared from scratch.  They pan fry the red onions to ensure they are caramelised for a really deep flavour, adding muscovado sugar to bring out the natural sticky sweetness as the onion reduces.  Balsamic vinegar is added towards the end of the process, making the onions darker and even more delicious.  This is followed by the pork, which is perfectly seasoned with a secret recipe which includes demerara sugar, nutmeg a hint of salt and some warming spices.

Now I have whetted your appetite let me tell you what’s left out.  debbie&andrew’s Caramelised Red Onion Pork Sausages don’t contain any gluten, wheat or dairy, they are packed with 100% British farmed pork, using only prime cuts, and have the most satisfying taste, something that is often lacking in free-from food.

I gently cooked the sausages in a griddle pan regularly turning until thoroughly cooked through.  Somehow we managed to eat both packs in one sitting – and that was just two of us!  I honestly don’t think I have ever tasted a more delicious sausage! I definitely won’t be keeping sausages just for the barbeque in the future.  Both my mother and daughter have since told me that they regularly buy debbie&andrew’s sausages because they are totally reliable, I know I will be from now on.

If you are one of the many people suffering from food allergies, try debbie&andrew’s sausages, The Harrogate 97% Pork Sausage has been one of the best known and most popular wheat, gluten and diary free sausages for over 15 years and I’m sure the Caramelised Red Onion Pork Sausage will be the same.
